Helicopter training

Hey Phil,
I surmise that a similarly engined Robinson helicopter is likely more expensive to operate
than a fixed wing craft but I see training costs quoted in the $500 per hour range.
Substantially more than traditional or even modern craft fixed wing training. Can you
shed some light on the math here?
Thx,

We charge $329/hour for the R44. That is more per hour than an airplane with a similar hull value but we need to budget $100 per hour for the overhaul reserve. Insurance costs are higher as well and for operators who don't fly at least 400 hours per year the fixed costs will be very painful.
