Objective
During this lesson, the student will be given an in-depth and
detailed exposure to IFR cross-country operations, including
departure, en route, emergency, and arrival procedures. Since the
flight is designed to meet the cross-country requirements stated in
FAR part 141 - Appendix C, 4(c),(2), it shall include three different
kinds of approaches with the use of navigation systems, each executed
at a different airport and the flight must be at least 100nm in length
on airways or as routed by ATC, with one straight line distance
greater than 50nm.
FAR Part 141 - Appendix C, 4(c)(2) Requirement
One cross-country flight that (i) Is in a helicopter and is
performed under IFR;(ii) Is a distance of at least 100 nautical miles
along airways or ATC-directed routing with one segment of the flight
consisting of at least a straight-line distance of 50 nautical miles
between airports;(iii) Involves an instrument approach at each
airport; and (iv) Involves three different kinds of approaches with
the use of navigation systems.
